Each piece is thrown on the potter's wheel and is then dried in the Alentejo sun before being first fired. It's then dipped in white clay, glazed and then fired a second time. The pottery is family-owned and has been in business for over 200 years.
All pottery must be wash before first use in hot soapy water, rinsed well, and allowed to air dry.
To maintain the integrity of the pieces (i.e. colour, glaze) dishwasher use is not recommended.
Some marks in the glaze are natural and expected, as is some crazing. This will not affect the use or durability of the pieces
Amorim Cork Composites- Alma Gémea, a love story - The Soul Mate Collection
Alma Gémea combines cork and ceramics - two noble materials, both of which have a long tradition in Portugal. The use and combination of these materials, in an innovative and differentiating manner, naturally brings us to the most sophisticated dimension of contemporary home design. Alma Gémea is a forward-looking product that pays heed to the roots of its cultural heritage.
Alma Gémea is much more than a love story. It is a relationship that is improbable and yet perfect. An experience that elevates the human senses to the universes of complementarity and union. Through our combined desire, we have discovered points of connection in our differences - that form a unique and beautiful whole. Opposites attract. The warmth of cork and the coldness of ceramics blend together. Love is born. Alma Gémea could have been a love story between two different people, who despite theirs differences find both common and complementary characteristics, which build a stronger “one”.
Available in Pearl & Dark Grey
Care: Separating the cork and the ceramic pieces is recommended. Avoid immersing cork in water, instead wipe the cork with a damp cloth. The ceramic is dishwasher safe.
